試題詳情
Faced with a declining population and workforce,Japan has been increasingly turning to robots for help.Over the years, the robots have carried out a large number of human tasks, including building products and providing care for the elderly.
However, the robots currently being used by companies, like Walmart and Amazon, are only able to perform single, repetitive tasks, such as stacking (堆積)boxes.Model-T,on the Other hand, has a wider range of movement and is able to hold, pick and place objects of several different shapes and sizes into different locations, making it ideal for convenience and grocery stores, which sell a large variety of items.
Model-T robots are operated from a distant location by human "pilots" wearing a virtual reality (VR) headset and special gloves, which allow them to feel the product the robot is holding in their hands and guide it to the right shelf.
The VR-controlled robots are ten times cheaper than automated(自動的)robots, because they don't require advanced programming and are easier to develop and maintain. And their easy-to-use controls require little training.Tomohiro Kano,a general manager in charge of development at FamilyMart, believes
this
will enable the chain to recruit (招聘)workers who would typically not work in stores.
Though Model-T appears to be getting, rapidly through the experiments,it is not quite ready to enter the workforce.Besides being a lot slower than humans,it is also only able to lift packaged items, and cannot get hold of things such as fruits and vegetables. The company is working to improve the weaknesses and hopes to introduce a faster, more skillful Model-T within the next two years. They believe that in addition to the stores, the robots could also be useful in hospitals, allowing doctors to do operations from remote locations.

At the beginning of Grade Two,I joined the cross-country running team in our school.
When I came to the first practice,I was filled with optimism. But as the distance we ran in each practice gradually increased from three to four,to six miles,I realized with surprise that no matter how hard I tried,I wasn't able to run as fast as others. In fact,I was one of the slowest on the team.
What was the point of putting myself through so much pain? After the first few weeks,I wanted to quit.
Then we had our first cross-country meet.
When we started the race,I felt the great pressure of expectations sink onto my shoulders. And after a while I stopped running and struggled to walk up the hill. But then I heard my coaches shouting my name from the top of the hill.I felt confused and embarrassed;why were they cheering for me?I was running terribly! As I tried my best to finish the race,I realized that my coaches didn't care how fast I ran.Neither did my teammates.During the rest of the season, they were always on the sidelines of every race, cheering for me just as loudly as they'd cheered for the front runner.
From then on,I began to put my effort into supporting my teammates instead of focusing on my own performance. In that way,I celebrated my teammates' victories as if they were my own;I felt their pain and exhaustion as if they were my own.
Cross-country running made me realize I don't need to be the best to be successful in life.It taught me to value my relationships with people more than my relationship with my ego.It taught me to cheer for others even if I don't know their names.
(1)Why did the author want to give up after the first few weeks?
A.He had much pain in his knees.
B.He didn't perform well in long-distance running.
C.He couldn't get along well with others
D.He showed no interest in running.
(2)Which of the following can best describe the coaches?
A.Strict and hard-hearted.
B.Brave and adventurous.
C.Considerate and supportive.
D.Optimistic and humorous.
(3)After his first cross-country race,the author
.
A.lost himself in victories
B.put more effort into his study
C.received more support from his coaches
D.started caring about his teammates
(4)What did the author realize from his experience?
A.The importance of team spirit
B.The value of competition
C.The secret of winning a race
D.The benefits of doing sports

If you are a fruit grower—or would like to become one—take advantage of Apple Day to see what's around. It's called Apple Day but in practice it's more like Apple Month. The day itself is on October 21,but since it has caught on,events now spread out over most of October around Britain.
Visiting an apple event is a good chance to see,and often taste,a wide variety of apples. To people who are used to the limited choice of apples such as Golden Delicious and Royal Gala in supermarkets,it can be quite an eye opener to see the range of classical apples still in existence, such as Decio which was grown by the Romans.Although it doesn't taste of anything special,it's still worth a try,as is the knobbly(多疙瘩的) Cat's Head which is more of a curiosity than anything else.
There are also varieties developed to suit specific local conditions. One of the very best varieties for eating quality is Orleans Reinette, but you'll need a warm, sheltered place with perfect soil to grow it,so it's
a pipe dream
for most apple lovers who fall for it.
At the events, you can meet expert growers and discuss which ones will best suit your conditions, and because these are family affairs, children are well catered for with apple-themed fun and games.
Apple Days are being held at all sorts of places with an interest in fruit, including stately gardens and commercial orchards (果園).If you want to have a real orchard experience, try visiting the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale, near Faversham in Kent.
(1)What can people do at the apple events?
A.Attend experts' lectures.
B.Visit fruit-loving families.
C.Plant fruit trees in an orchard.
D.Taste many kinds of apples.
(2)What can we learn about Decio?
A.It is a new variety.
B.It has a strange look.
C.It is rarely seen now.
D.It has a special taste.
(3)What does the underlined phrase "a pipe dream" in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.A practical idea.
B.A vain hope.
C.A brilliant plan.
D.A selfish desire.
(4)What is the author's purpose in writing the text?
A.To show how to grow apples.
B.To introduce an apple festival.
C.To help people select apples.
D.To promote apple research.

One animal which is still alive, but has almost disappeared from the world,is the Chinese river dolphin or Yangtze River dolphin.
The Yangtze River dolphin is a beautiful animal with a graceful body and a long nose.It is blue-grey with a white underside, weighs between 100 and 160 kilogrammes, and can grow up to eight feet long.It lives in the middle and lower parts of the Yangtze River. Most dolphins live in the sea so the Yangtze River dolphin is very unusual. It is one of only five kinds of river dolphins in the world.
In the past, there were many stories about the Yangtze River dolphin. One story said that the dolphin was really a beautiful princess who had drowned in the river.Another said it was a kind of horse that could gallop(急速行進)across water, carrying God on its back.
Sadly, the situation today is very different. Many millions of people live in the Yangtze River Basin and the river is busy, noisy and polluted. The Yangtze River dolphin is almost blind and moves around using sounds. With so many boats and people using the river, the animals cannot find their way around. They are unable to find food,or find each other.Year by year, the number of Yangtze River dolphin in the river becomes smaller and smaller.
A lot of work is being done to help the Yangtze River dolphin. One section of the river has been made into a kind of nature park, where the Yangtze River dolphin can be safe.Fishermen work together with scientists and tell them when they see a Yangtze River dolphin,or if they find an injured one.Injured animals are taken to a research center and nursed back to be healthy. However,in spite of these measures, scientists estimate (估計)that the number of the Yangtze River dolphin still alive in the river may be less than 100.If things continue as they are,the lovely creature will disappear in the next 25 years.

B.the Yangtze River dolphin is blind because of the pollution and can't find the way around
C.the boats and people are noisy, making the animals cannot find their way around by sounds
D.they are unable to find food or find each other by sounds since the river is noisy
(3)Which of the following is the correct way to save the Yangtze River dolphin?
A.Catch the Yangtze River dolphins and take them to the research center.
B.Make the whole Yangtze River a natural park for the Yangtze River dolphin to live.
C.Make one section of the Yangtze River a natural park where the Yangtze River dolphins can be safe.
