  • 2.Almost every kid on the planet loves snacks, and they seldom care how healthy they are.Although some snacks like chocolate and candy are found everywhere, others are unique to a country or a culture.
In Japan, matcha(抹茶)is a kind of green tea powder. It is made from tea leaves and can be used with ice cream or cake.In fact, matcha came from China first but took off in Japan.Biscuits or cookies covered with chocolate are also a Japanese favorite.

In the UK,many people sit down for snacks at around 4pm every day. They call it "afternoon tea".Traditional afternoon tea is biscuits and tea.People also have the scone(烤餅)with jam and cream, which is probably the most classic English snack.Potato chips and French fries are popular in the UK,too.
Want to eat snacks in a healthy way? Here are some helpful tips.Have a look!A handful of walnuts are great for your brain. But a whole bag will add nothing but fat.If you're crazy for chocolate, try a hot chocolate drink instead of a chocolate bar.Don't cat too many snacks after dinner. If you feel hungry, pick foods like fruit and vegetables, but don't eat sugar or fatty snacks.

  • 3.Can you imagine a cloud hanging over in the middle of your room?Do you want to know what it feels like to fly like a bird?Find your answers in Time Magazine's 25 "Best Inventions".Here,we have picked out the most interesting 4 to share with you.
       Talking Gloves
Have you ever felt confused by the sign language used by disabled people?Four Ukrainian students have created a pair of gloves that helps people with hearing and speech problems communicate with others. The gloves are equipped with sensors that recognize sign language and translate it into text on a smartphone. Then the smartphone changes the text to spoken words.
       Google Glasses
Google Glasses are like a computer built into the frame of a pair of glasses. With the help of the glasses, you are allowed to surf the Internet and make calls without even lifting a finger. The glasses also have a camera and GPS mapping system.Users can take and share photos, check maps and surf the Internet just by looking up,down, left and right.
       Indoor Clouds
It's not virtual. That's a real world.Dutch artist Smilde managed to create a small but perfect white cloud in the middle of a room using a fog machine. But it required careful planning-the temperature, humidity(濕度)and lighting all had to be just right.Once everything was ready, the cloud formed in the air with the machine. But it only lasted for a short while.
       Wingsuits
The suit fulfills your dreams of flying like a bird.Well, not exactly flying, but gliding through the air.It increases the surface area of the human body, which makes it easier for people to float in the air.Fliers wearing wingsuits can glide one kilometer in about 30 seconds.

  • 4.I have always been a big girl.I am comfortable with my body but there is a price to pay for being different.
In primary school,I was crazy about gymnast(體操) and was actually team captain in my final year, bust I had to make up for my shortcomings.Long after the other girls had left I would still be in the school hall, going over every routine again and again without the coach around. It took months to master the ribbon(帶子) and in the early days,I always got my ribbon in a terrible knot. However,I carried on and improve so much that in 2015 I was in the National Championships.
Whenever I went up in a competition,I always got the sense that the crowd did no expect much from the overweight child before them. They talked about my weight in low voices. One man even said. "That's the ugliest leotard (緊身衣) I've ever seen and the elephant inside it isn't much better!" Hearing their words, you could understand my feelings. But I just kept silent because I decided to let my ribbon do the talking.I worked harder on my ribbon and it showed.
I was the winner in National Championships that year, but that was not the best thing I got from hours of tiring practice. The best thing was the knowledge that my body can not decide who I am and should never limit what I can do.Society seems to believe that overweight people are unhappy with their weight and have little low self-confidence,so they never count much.I do not believe that.I believe can achieve anything because I am bigger than my body.

(1)How did the writer react(回應) to the man's words on her clothing?

    A.She talked back angrily.
    B.She changed her clothing.
C.She pretended(假裝) not to hear it.
D.She reacted to it with her performance.
(2)The underlined word "limit" in Paragraph 4 is closest in meaning to
    .
    A.punish
    B.prevent
    C.help
    D.require
(3)Which words might be the best ones to describe the writer?

    A.Crazy but shy.
    B.Unhappy but polite.
    C.Ugly and big.
    D.Hardworking and confident.
(4)What is the writer's main opinion in this article?

    A.Practice makes perfect.
    B.Silence is gold.
C.Be the best of whatever you are.
D.A good beginning is half done.

第二節(jié) 下面文章中有五處需要添加小標題。請從以下選項(A、B、C、D、E和F)中選出符合各段意思的小標題。選項中有一 項是多余選項。

  • 5.
    A.Arguments are useless.
    B.Parents help us grow better.
    C.Everyone's opinion counts.
    D.Learn to control our emotions.
E.Deal with the bad situation better.
    F.My opinion seems perfectly right
There always comes a moment when I wonder where I will end up and this moment always gives me a life lesson. These are the lessons that I wish I'd learned earlier:
       (1)

There was a time when everyone's opinion was mine as well.Remember that your opinion matters just as much as the next guy's,whether they make more money than you or are less popular than you.Everyone's opinion holds the same weight.
       (2)

When I was a teenager,I'd be angry and go crazy if I had heard someone said bad things behind my back.Looking back on those memories now,I'm not too surprised. After all, when you have little self-control,anything is possible.
       (3)

Will one small quarrel among friends decide the development of the friendship? In my world it felt like it.I just wanted so much to be right and for them so much to be wrong. It only resulted in me wasting my time and in the other person storming off in frustration.
       (4)

I'm not saying every parent knows what's the best for kids, but in general, parents do what they do to help us know how to look after ourselves. My parents used to make me do the dishes, cook dinner, sweep the floors, take out the garbage...Now I can take better care of myself.
       (5)

Whenever I'd lose a friend, get an awful grade,or disappoint my parents,I feel terrible.Fortunately,I know now that we don't have to be stuck in bad situations. We can go out and create better ones.It all depends on how you see the situation.
