  • 1.Teachers say that the digital(數(shù)字) age has had a good influence and a not-so-good influence on American teenagers.More than 2,000 middle and high school teachers took (1)
online survey.Researchers also spoke with teachers in some groups. Most teachers think the Internet and digital search tools have had a mostly positive influence on their students' research habits and skills.(2)
at the same time, some teachers also point out some problems in teenagers' using digital search tools.
The Pew Internet Project did the survey with the College Board and the National Writing Project.Judy Buchanan is the director (3)
the National Writing Project and a co-writer of the report. She says digital research tools are helping students learn more, and learn(4)

.And the goal is to really help students become creators of (7)
meaningful, and not just users of the online information."
But one problem the survey found is that these technologies make teenagers have short attention spans. As there is huge amount of information about different subjects on the Internet, teenagers' attention is (8)
    drawn away from their research.
        (9)
problem the survey found is that many students trust the information they find on the Internet too much.Judy Buchanan says these students have not developed the skills to judge the online information. They need to learn a lot to tell (10)
the information is believable. It's something that really has to be noticed.
One more problem the survey found is something that might not seem like a problem at all:being able to quickly find information online. Many students think "doing research" now means just (11)
quick search on Google.Teachers say the result is a drop in the wish and ability of their students to work hard (12)
answers. That is ,they are overly dependent on search engines and do not make enough use of printed books or research librarians.
Many teachers also say that the Internet makes (13)
easy for students to copy work (14)
by others instead of using (15)
    own abilities.

  • 3.Last night one of my Chinese friends took me to a concert of Chinese folk music. The piece which was played on the erhu especially moved me.The music was strangely beautiful ,but under the beauty I sensed a strong sadness and pain. The piece had a simple name,Erquan Yingyue (Moon Reflected on Second Spring),but it was one of the most moving pieces of music that I've ever heard. The erhu sounded so sad that I almost cried along with it as I listened.Later I looked up the history of Erquan Yingyue, and I began to understand the sadness in the music.
The music was written by Abing,a folk musician who was born in the city of Wuxi in 1893.His mother died when he was very young.Abing's father taught him to play many musical instruments, such as the drums, dizi and erhu, and in the year of 1910,Abing was known for his musical ability. However, after his father died,Abing's life grew worse. He was very poor. Not only that,he developed a serious illness and became blind. For several years,he had no home.He lived on the streets and played music to make money.Even after Abing got married and had a home again,he continued to sing and play on the streets. He performed in this way for many years.
Abing's amazing musical skills made him very popular during his lifetime.By the end of his life,he could play over 600 pieces of music. Many of these were written by Abing himself. It is a pity that only six pieces of music in total were recorded for the future world to hear, but his popularity continues to this day.Today,Abing's Erquan Yingyu e is a piece which all the great erhu masters play and praise. It has become one of China's national treasures. Its sad beauty not only paints a picture of Abing's own life but also makes people recall their deepest wounds(傷口) from their own sad or painful experiences.
