When he was 7 years old，F(xiàn)rancis Kéré left his home to attend school because there was no school in his village.13 years later，he went to Germany to study architecture（建筑學）.He dreamed of returning home one day to build a school.Kéré did make it.His first building was a primary school for his village.
The 56-year-old is now among the greatest architects of the world.And he has won the 2022 Pritzker Prize，the world's highest honor for architecture.Kéré says he is the happiest man on this planet as he's the first African architect to win the prize in its 43-year history.
Kéré is different from other winners.He is famous not for high buildings but for schools and health centers around Africa.Unlike traditional school buildings，Kéré made brighter and cooler classrooms.On hot summer days，cool air can come into the building from the side windows and hot air can go out through the wide roof.
"I didn't just want to create classrooms.I wanted to create beauty for the poor people，"says Kéré."I wanted to make things better for even those who have nothing."
