Some people work a job their whole lives and it is nothing more than a job.Carole and Russ Cassidy were lucky. They found their passion (熱愛) in life through their work as special education teachers. But the Cassidys say they are even luckier in retirement (退休生活).
"We just did not want to be sitting and not doing anything in retirement," Carole Cassidy said. "We tried a couple of things and they were not meant for us."
Soon, they found the Princeton Public Library's Children's Story time program and wanted to be a part of it at once.
"We were lucky;they came and found us and asked to volunteer (做志愿者)," Rebecca Marrs,Children's Librarian at the Princeton Public Library said.Marrs said the kids love the retired special education teachers and are able to interact (互動(dòng)) on a better level.
Marrs began the Children's Story time program at the Princeton Public Library about seven years ago.The Book Babies program, for newborns to 3-year-olds,is held on Thursday and the Preschool program is held on Friday. And the whole story time program is free to all kids.
Story time begins with stories being read by Marrs, then activities time.
The Cassidys and Marrs both said that they do not expect the children to sit still during story time. They understand that children can listen while also playing with blocks.
"I love being with kids. The best part of my work here is to watch kids playing together and using their imagination," Carole Cassidy said. "For example,I ask them why they made a robot with blocks and they explain it to me.Their imagination is so good."
Story time is on a hiatus (間斷) until springtime, but Marrs said there will be several story times during the winter break.
"They learn from us,but more importantly they learn from each other and how to work with other kids," Marrs said.

3.I remember my math teacher Mr.Young very well.He stood out because the kids made fun of him.He was missing one of his fingers, and always pointed at students with his middle finger.
I was not very good at English and math.No matter how hard I tried,I just could not figure out why I did not understand what all the other kids found so easy to learn.
One day,I was told that if I got one more E on my report card,I would be taken to the "big prison for kids".
I tried really hard for weeks.I just couldn't understand how to make different parts of members into whole things.
The day before report cards were to come out,I knew that Mr.Young would give me an E,just like he always did.
I went to Mr.Young and told him that the orphanage (孤兒院) was going to send me to the big prison if I got another E on my report card.He told me there was nothing he could do;it would be unfair to the other kids if he gave me a better grade than I had actually earned.
I smiled at him and said, "Mr.Young,do you know how the kids make fun of you because you're missing your finger?" He looked at me,moved his mouth to one side and said nothing.
"They shouldn't do that to you because you can't help not having a finger,Mr.Young.Just like I can't help not being able to learn numbers and stuff like that." I said.
The next day, when I got my report card,I tucked it into one of my books. While on the school bus,I opened it:Geography,B+;Mechanical Drawing,C-;English,D-;History,C-;Gym,B+;Art,C;Math,D-.
That math grade was the most favorite one I ever received.Because I knew that someone in the world finally understood what it was like for me to be missing a finger inside my head.
